Herman “Pete” Chastain, Jr., 76, passed away Friday, July 18, 2025, in Youngtown, Florida.

Born July 12, 1949, in Mitchell, he was the son of Herman Chastain Sr. and Lena Pearl Ray.  He was married to Peggy Chastain for 37 years and she survives.

Herman attended First Baptist Church in Panama City Florida. He also enjoyed coin and stamp collecting.

Surviving are his wife, Peggy Chastain; children, Timmy Chastain, Cheryl Chastain, Tony Hart, Jane Johnson, and Jimmy Yarbrough Jr.; 18 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and sister, Mary Alice Chastain Branstetter.

His parents preceded him in death.

Graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 31, at Talbott Cemetery.
