MITCHELL – Jack D. Leatherman, 73, passed away Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at Indiana University Health Bloomington Hospital.

Born April 5, 1949, in Lawrence County, he was the son of Carl and Lucille (Hopkins) Leatherman.  He married Sandra Jane Russell in 2001 and she survives.

Jack worked as an orchard caretaker for Applacres for many years.  He enjoyed fishing and being with his horses.  Jack loved animals; especially his dog, Mickey.

Surviving are his wife, Sandra Jane Leatherman of Mitchell; children, Jackie Leatherman of Mitchell; siblings, Jerry Leatherman of Tunnelton, Tony Leatherman of Mitchell, Jerold Leatherman of Mitchell, Donald Leatherman of Williams, Danny Leatherman of Tunnelton, Terry Leatherman of Tunnelton, Vickie Pridemore of Mitchell, and Sheila Garrison of Mitchell; and several grandchildren.

His parents; son, Mikey Leatherman; and siblings, Henry Leatherman, Carolyn Terrell, Wanda Holt, Judy Jones, Joyce Babcock, James Leatherman, Herald Leatherman, and Lois Readon, preceded him in death.

Graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 12, at Lawrenceport Cemetery with Reverend Robert Martindale officiating.  Burial to follow.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center.
