MITCHELL James C. Scott, Jr., 87, Mitchell, passed away at 8:32 a.m. Thursday, May 20, 2010, at Indiana University Medical Center, Indianapolis.
Born January 20, 1923, in Atkins, Arkansas, he was the son of James C. and Minnie Scott. He married Venita Lawrence October 4, 1947.
He had been employed at General Motors Powertrain and was a member of UAW Local 440.
James was a U.S. Army veteran of WW II and a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans. He also served in the Civilian Conservation Corps.

His parents preceded him in death.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, May 24, in the Memorial Chapel of the Chastain Funeral Home with Bro. Allen Burris officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery with military honors accorded by American Legion Post No. 250 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107.
Friends may call from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday and from 9:30 a.m. until the service on Monday at the funeral home.
