BEDFORD – James “Carl” Lewis, Jr., 86, passed away Thursday, February 5, 2026, at his residence.

Born February 11, 1939, in Allock, Kentucky, he was the son of James Carl Sr. and Genevia Marie (Mutchler) Lewis.  He married Marylee E. Dishaw on October 25, 1997 and she survives.  They were married for 29 years.

Carl was a 1957 graduate of Bethel-Tate High School in Bethel, Ohio.  He drove a milk truck for 25 years and retired from Visteon, working as a fork lift driver.  Carl loved fishing, woodworking, and crafting.  He was an avid reader and an excellent gardener.  Carl attended Silverville Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Marylee Lewis of Bedford; children, David Allen (Sue Lacey) Lewis of Bedford, Beverly Ann Lewis of New Richmond, Ohio, and Lisa Marie Lewis of New Richmond, Ohio; step-children, Martin Denesha of Bedford, Paul (Jennifer) Denesha of Bedford, and Jeanette Denesha of Massena, New York; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Annie (Amel) Bex of Bedford and Allen (Terrie) Lewis of Merryville, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.

His parents; sister, Jeanetta Ashley; and brother-in-law, Don Ashley, preceded him in death.

Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, February 9, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Pastor Gary Lee officiating.  Burial will be at Cresthaven Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the service on Monday at the funeral home.

    One of the first works on the 'PA' when I got to dazes @ Drof, 'Carl Louis shipping docks'! YEARS later @ Vistegone, I drove OLD # 3 if John was not on it. Carl says that's a dangerous hi-lo there! Was only a shipper/hi-lo 6 years. Carl made long days 'COOL'. I lived finding him in wal-mart. Always Yelled 'Carl Louis shipping dock'. Then talk for 1/2 hr! Prayers to all families.God Bless.
