MITCHELL – James “Jim” Paul Lynch, Jr., 84, passed away Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at his residence.

Born May 16, 1940, in Lawrence County, he was the son of James Paul Sr. and Alma (Edwards) Lynch.  He married Wanda Carroll on June 23, 1962 and she survives.

Jim attended Huron School and retired from General Motors after 32 ½ years.  He later worked at Spring Mill State Park and at Walmart.  Jim was a member of the Dubois Masonic Lodge No. 520 F.&A.M. in Huntingburg.  He loved talking to people and never met a stranger.  Jim often went camping, and loved going to flea markets and yard sales.

Surviving are his wife, Wanda Lynch of Mitchell; children, James B. Lynch of Mitchell, Jamie Lynch of Mitchell, and Sherri (Ray) Winston of Jacksonville, Florida; grandchildren, Karis Lynch of Orleans, Leiland Lynch of Bloomington, and Ray Winston, Jr. of Jacksonville, Florida; great-granddaughter, Everly Rose Curren of Orleans; and sister, Kathryn McCune of Huntingburg.    

His parents and siblings, Judy Terrell, Janet Lynch, Harry “Fred” Lynch, and Carl Lynch, preceded him in death.

Graveside service will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, February 24, at Mitchell Cemetery with Reverend Reggie Clark officiating.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Monday at Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center.

    Wanda I am so sorry for your family’s loss. I always enjoyed talking with you and Jim , I was impressed with Jim’s craftsmanship in the things he created and I always felt welcome. Not to say always well fed and made to feel like family . I have thought of you both often . My prayers are with you. Jamie , brother I am so sorry for your loss.
