Jeffrey Scott Ray, 62, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 21, 2026 surrounded by the love of his family after a courageous five year battle with cancer.

Jeff was born on October 5, 1963 in Naperville, Illinois to James and Patricia “Janeen” (Vollrath) Ray. He grew up in Huron, Indiana and graduated from Mitchell High School, class of 1981.

Jeff dedicated 17 years of his career to USG before pursuing his passion for woodworking by founding WTM Woodworking in 1996. What began as WTM Woodworking grew into Jeff Ray & Son Cabinetry, where he had the privilege of working alongside his son, Tanner. One of Jeff’s greatest joys was passing down his knowledge, craftsmanship, and many talents to him.

A true outdoorsmen, Jeff found joy in hunting, fishing and teaching his grandson, Bowen, how to drive his side by side. His favorite time of year was mushroom season. He loved frying them to pair with his biscuits and gravy — a Sunday morning tradition shared with his daughter Morgan before church. He also enjoyed making his famous homemade ice cream for everyone. He was an avid fan of game shows, but he loved watching bear hunting videos with his grandson, Briar.

More than anything, Jeff treasured spending time with his family, especially his grandkids, who brought him endless happiness.

Jeff was blessed to spend his last chapter of his life with his devoted wife, Alicia Ray, who survives. They married July 20, 2015, just celebrating their 11th wedding anniversary. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and love. She was his biggest supporter and will forever cherish the memories they created together.

He is survived by his wife, Alicia Ray; mother, Janeen Ray; children, Whitney (Joey) Edmonson, Tanner (Ann-Michaelle) Ray, and Morgan (Jeremy) Brown; stepdaughter, Ciara (Nick) Felts; grandchildren, Zaiden and Tristen Scholz, Aeriana, Jorden, and Maysen Edmonson, Bowen and Briar Ray, Sophia Brown, and Samuel Felts; siblings, Pamela (David) Malone, Mike (Susan) Ray, Bobby (Shelly) Ray, Will (Missy) Ray, Aaron (Amber) Ray, and Robyn (Mike) Bales; many nieces and nephews; and his favorite cousins, Traci Greathouse, Kristi Roach, and Kelley Norris, though they were more like siblings. They provided a great deal of love, care and support during his entire life but especially during his final days.

Jeff was preceded in death by his father, Jimmy; his beloved Aunt Barbara and Uncle Don; Uncle Mickey, and his grandparents.

Jeff was a faithful member of the Work of God Church and lived a life grounded in faith and family.

A Celebration of Life service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 25, at the Work of God Church, 1588 Wesley Chapel Road, for anyone to attend.

I'm so sorry to all of you for your loss. Jeff was a good man and a good dad and deserved more time with his family. I remember spending a lot of time at the huron house with Whitney riding go karts and just getting to being a feral wild child running around outside. There's nothing I can do to make it better or hurt less, but if there's anything I can do to help, I will. Love y'all, Lindsay & Jared 🫂❤

Never will forget the night Jeff walked over a cliff while coon hunting where my son Steve now lives and still took home three coons. He was definitely one of a kind. He also made the doors for my current under-sink cabinets.
