MITCHELL – Joe David Young, 62, passed away Monday, May 25, 2026, at Indiana University Health Bedford Hospital.
Born July 30, 1963, in Monticello, Kentucky, he was the son of Foxey Coleman and Nellie Marie (Richardson) Young. He married Susan Ann Duncan on March 5, 1994 and she survives.
Joe retired from Dana Corporation. He loved mowing, camping, and meticulously caring for his vehicles. Joe was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed racing. Joe adored his wife, was dedicated to his family, and loved being with them.
Surviving are his wife, Susan Ann Young of Mitchell; sons, Kyle David (Stephanie) Young of Springville and Zachary Hunter Young of Mitchell; grandchildren, Camden Levi Young, Isabella “Izzy” Mae Lake, and Logan Orin Lake; and siblings, Jerry K. Young of Mitchell, Vela Kay (Randy) Wood of Lafayette, Robert Tyce Young of Shoals, and Lisha Young of Shoals.
His parents preceded him in death.
Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 29, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Pastor Dwight Dunbar officiating. Burial will be at Mitchell Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the service on Friday at the funeral home.
