ANDERSON – John J. Banks, 89, a former Mitchell resident from 1994-2009, passed away Thursday, January 23, 2014, at Countryside Manor following a brief illness.
Born August 1, 1924, in Connersville, he was the son of John J. and Leila (Baker) Banks. He married Dorcas Marie Robbins August 10, 1971, and she preceded him in death March 8, 2009.
He was employed at Behrens Paint Spot for 20 years and also Anderson Automotive.
John was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and served in Northern France, Ardennes, and the Rhineland. He received the EAME Theater Ribbon with three bronze stars, Good Conduct Medal, and World War II Victory Medal.

His parents; wife; and siblings, Clarence Banks, Bernard E. Banks, Donald Banks, Beulah Marie Banks, and Beatrice Hobbs, preceded him in death.
A graveside service will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 30, at Cresthaven Mausoleum with Rev. Matt Moore officiating. Military rites will be accorded by American Legion Post No. 250 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107.
