MITCHELL Johnnie B. Ringle, 93, 1201 Main Street, Mitchell, passed away at 12:35 a.m. Tuesday, September 22, 2009, at Garden Villa in Bedford.

Born February 24, 1916, in Smithville, Tennessee, she was the first daughter and second child of Frank Cheatham and Roxie Pauline (Humphrey) Sanders. She moved to Central City, Kentucky at the age of 17. After graduating from Central City High School in 1934, she came to Lawrence County with her aunt who was in the landscaping and nursery business. They took rooms with Mr. and Mrs. Joe Brooks at Breeze Hill. Mr. Brooks was in the process of opening the Ben Franklin 5&10 on Main Street in Mitchell. She was offered employment in their new store and became a life-long resident of Mitchell. Johnnie had also been employed at Braman’s Department Store and Goodman-Jester.

On February 3, 1940, she married Louis Henry Ringle who was the manager of the new Sunshine Hatchery on Main Street. Louis preceded her in death July 22, 1995.

Johnnie was a member of the Lawrence County Art Association, Prim Priscilla Club, Epsilon Sigma Alpha, So&Sew Club, and the Spring Mill Stitchers. She attended the First Baptist Church. Her hobbies included oil painting, quilting, and growing lovely flowers.

Her parents; husband; and brothers, Frank, Jack, and Ed Sanders; and brother-in-law, James Carroll, preceded her in death.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, September 28, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Graham officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2:00-5:00 p.m. on Sunday and from 9:30 a.m. until the service on Monday at the funeral home.
