HURON — Joseph James King, 84, passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2013, at the home of his daughter, Sandra Kay Mead.

Born May 6, 1929, in Huron, he was the son of Bruce and Helen (Owen) King.  He married Genevieve Ruth Tincher April 24, 1948, and she preceded him in death December 19, 2007.

He retired from General Motors and was a member of UAW Local 440.  Mr. King graduated from Huron High School in 1947, and was a member of the Huron Church of God.

Surviving:    daughter, Sandra Kay Mead
         granddaughters, Kristen Hudson and Amanda Mead
   great grandchildren, Kaylyn, Jameson, and Ella
                        sister, Wanda Pruett, Huron

 His parents; wife; sisters, Mary Alice Terry and Edith Marie King; and brother, Frances “Plug” King, preceded him in death.                          

Funeral service will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday, October 7, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Rev. Randy Corbin officiating.  Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. Sunday and from 10:30 a.m. until the service on Monday at the funeral home.

    Sandra, so sorry to hear about your Dad. We were out of town on previous arrangements over the weekend. My Mom and Dad had a lot of good times with James and your Mom. I have pictures of Dad and James in the girls dresses. Thinking of you and you are in mine and Julia's prayers. We are both with out parents now and we will miss them all terrible.
