HURON – Judy Ellen Chappell, 71, passed away Tuesday, August 8, 2017, at Kindred Hospital Indianapolis South in Greenwood.

Born July 27, 1946, in Mitchell, she was the daughter of Herman Cleo and Avis Ellen (Edwards) Flora.  She married Maury Paul Chappell, Jr., December 23, 1984, and he preceded her in death January 23, 2011.

Judy was a homemaker and owner of Switzerland County Auction Center and the Huron Store.  She was a member of Switzerland County Community Church, and she loved to cook and read cookbooks.

Her parents; husband; and brother, James Flora, preceded her in death.

Funeral service will be at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, August 10, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Pastor Charles Dayadharum officiating.  Graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Huron Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until the service on Thursday at the funeral home.

    To the family, From Lisa Chappell Anderson, I'm so sorry for your loss. I loved your Mom. I miss Daddy everyday and I know she never got over it because every time we talked we cried about him. Then we would start laughing about the funny times we had with him. I remember him telling her she looked like an angel when she wore a white dress to a high school reunion. Well I know it is hard to be positive right now because it hurts so bad but they are no longer in pain they are with Jesus. And now she is a Beautiful angel at the most important Reunion. We will keep you in our prayers and please keep these Chappell kids in your prayers! We love you all!💕

    God Bless you and your families at this time. Blaine and I always enjoyed stopping and talking to her when we would come through on the paper route while they were working at the store. She was such a sweet lady and will be sorely missed. If any of you guys need anything, remember me and Blaine are just a couple of doors down. That is what neighbors are for is to help each other out.

    I am so very sorry for the loss of Judy, I have known her many years, we were friends after both of us were married and had some fun times, she was a beautiful person inside and out. There is sadness because she is gone but happiness that she lived. Bless all of her family!
