MITCHELL – Kenneth Lee McClure, 79, went to be with his heavenly Father Thursday, February 23, 2017, at his residence.

Born November 9, 1937, in Bedford, he was the son of Russell Landis and Mary Elizabeth (Brewster) McClure.  He married the love of his life, Marilyn Jo Pruett, February 26, 1957.  They will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on Sunday, February 26, 2017.

He was a third generation employee of the B & O Railroad, retiring with 43 years of service.

Kenneth had such love for family and friends and blessed those who knew him.  He coached baseball and basketball youth leagues, was a 50 year member of Mitchell Masonic Lodge No. 228 F. &A. M., and an active servant of the Mitchell Church of the Nazarene.

His hobby of golf brought great friendships through the years.  He always looked forward to the Monday morning golf scrambles at Saddlebrook Golf Club.

The love and passion he had for family was so contagious.  Kenny leaves behind a daughter, Debra J. (Bill) Arthur of Mitchell, son, Douglas L. (Kelly) McClure of Washington; grandchildren, Chad T. (Sara) Reynolds, Travis L. (Sarah) Reynolds, Curtis L. (Amy) McClure, Tyler (McKenzi) Arthur, Kayla Arthur, and Brett Arthur.  Also, great grandchildren, Hayden Reynolds, Grant Reynolds, Jack McClure, Macy McClure, Elsi Arthur, Yali Arthur, Kori Arthur, Noah High, and Isabelle High.

Kenny also leaves behind three sisters, Connie (Keith) Mundy of Mitchell, Dolores McClure of Bloomington, Carolyn (J. R. Rheem) Delaney of Bloomington, sisters and brothers-in-law, Jim and Sharon Ball of Bloomington, Thane and Barbara Dean of Polk City, Florida, and Carolyn Knauss of St. Louis, Missouri.

His parents preceded him in death.

Funeral service will be at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, February 26, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Pastor Joel Parsons and Pastor Karolyn Parsons officiating.   Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery.

Friends may call from noon until the service on Sunday at the funeral home.

I'm very sorry to hear about Kenny. He always had a kind word and encouraged everyone. Visiting and spending all those nights in your home watching Sammy Terry are among my fondest childhood memories. Thank you. Kenny also coached Doug and I in Little League All-Stars. His endeavors promoting and coaching sports always meant a great deal to me. I have benefited greatly from association with your family for which I'm grateful. I hope peace and mercy find you in the days ahead. God Bless. Larry And Stephanie Hembree
