MITCHELL Laura Eleanor Pierce, 91, Mitchell, formerly of Washington, passed away at 12:56 a.m. Monday, January 25, 2010, at Mitchell Manor Living and Rehabilitation Center.
Born March 28, 1918, in Daviess County, she was the daughter of James Everett and Gertrude Blanche (Lee) Hays. She married Robert C. Herndon March 11, 1939, and he preceded her in death in 1953. Her second marriage was to Roger W. Pierce August 1, 1958, and he preceded her in death May 14, 2005.
She was a homemaker and was a member of the First Christian Church in Washington and the Washington High School Class of 1939. She had assisted her father in the management of the Arlington Hotel.

Her parents; both husbands; sisters, Louise Moore, Cleo Sellman, and Ruth Jones; and brother, Clarence Hays, preceded her in death.
Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 28, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home with Rev. Travis Smalley and Rev. Glen Stidd officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery.
