Iowa Park, Texas – Leif R. Goettel, 66, passed away Thursday, September 11, 2025 in Wichita Falls, Texas.
Born December 31, 1958, in Muncie, he was the son of Larry Raborn and Cynthia Ann (Evans) Goettel.
Leif was a 1977 graduate of Mitchell High School. He worked in the oil fields in Texas and was maintenance and crew foreman for 39 drill sites. Previously, he was employed at the White River Humane Society and as a printer at the Mitchell Tribune. Leif was a lover of nature and enjoyed hiking, looking at trees, mushroom hunting and gazing at the stars. He also enjoyed reading and cooking.
Surviving are his children, Joseph (Shantel) McCoy of Texas, Steve Fox of Texas, and Sharon Hamilton of Texas; grandchildren, Brylan, Brett, Taylor, and Elizabeth; great-grandchildren, Brynlee, Baylor, Benji, and Grayson; mother, Cynthia Ann Goettel of Mitchell; and siblings, Nikki (Jeff) Canfield of Mitchell and Marlo (Jay) Engler of Mitchell.
His father and wife, Pamela Fox, preceded him in death.
A private service will be held, with burial in Lawrenceport Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be sent to White River Humane Society in memory of Leif.
