BEDFORD – Lloyd Daniel Kacher, 57, passed away Thursday, August 15, at his residence.

Born November 9, 1961, in Gary, he was the son of John and Annabeth (Christy) Kacher.  He married Carla Ann Kendall February 14, 1981.

Lloyd retired from Mitchell Community Schools and took a lot of pride in his work.  He graduated from Mitchell High School in 1980.  He loved his family and friends.

His parents and sister, Roxanne Gilbert, preceded him in death.

Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, August 18, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Pastor Dwight Dunbar officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery. 

The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Saturday, and from 12:30 p.m. until the service on Sunday at the funeral home.

    I am very sadden to learn of Lloyd's passing. I liked him a lot and greatly respected his work ethic. Lloyd was very responsible. He was alway there when needed and did everything in his power to keep the facilities of MCS in top shape and running efficiently. He did all of that while displaying a pleasant personality and a pride in his work. He was a fine man who was an honor for me to know and work with. Mitchell was lucky to have him as one of its citizens. He was one who will always be remembered by me as a great guy. He will be missed.

    I didn’t realize how close we were in age but the relationships he built with us as students was extremely strong. Lloyd taught me a valuable lesson without even knowing it through this relationship building - custodian staff know quite a bit that goes on with the students. Which led me to developing strong relationships with the custodial staff during all my coaching stops and have consistently learned more about what was going on with my student athletes through these relationships than I did from parents, teachers and other coaches.
