MITCHELL – Loetta Myrtle Hamer, 101, passed away Friday, January 6, 2023, at Westview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born November 2, 1921, in Princeton, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Jess Bert and Ruby Myrtle (Pugh) Long. Loetta married Otto Glenn Hamer February 18, 1940 and he preceded her in death August 17, 2010.
Loetta was a homemaker and artist and was a member of the Princeton Art Guild. She was a member of the Elm Grove Baptist Church in Murray, Kentucky.
Surviving are her son, Glenn (Linda) Hamer of Mitchell; six grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, with two on the way; brother, Harry Long of Oregon; and son-in-law, Barry (Julia) Clark of Dongola, Illinois.
Her husband; parents; daughter, Barbara Jean Clark; siblings, Larry Long, Jerry Long, Jeanie Buchanan, and Shirley Ferre, preceded her in death.
Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 11, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Reverend Glenn Hamer officiating. Burial will be in Hamer Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
