MITCHELL – Mary Florence Powell, 89, transitioned to Heaven Saturday, April 14, 2018.

Born September 17, 1928, in Huron, Mary was the daughter of Jesse and Levi (Barlow) Stroud.  Mary married Lee Clark Powell July 10, 1948.  Plush and Mary were married for 69 years.  Mary and Plush are long standing members of Liberty Baptist Church in Lawrence County.

Mary worked at Trav-Ler Corporation in Orleans, a radio manufacturing company, before marrying Plush.  She then became a homemaker and mother to four sons.

Ava White, Cooper White, Cadence Powell, Daxton Powell, Abigail Powell, Emerson Powell, Tinsley Powell, Teigan Powell, Carson Powell, Brantley Powell, and Tucker Tritle

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Charles Amel Stroud, Ermal Roy Stroud, Helen Louise Sorrells, Vera Ilene Guthrie, David Glenn Stroud, and Jesse Stroud, Jr.; and a great grandson, Reid Nicolas Powell.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 18, at Liberty Baptist Church with Reverend Wade Judy officiating.  Burial will be in Liberty Baptist Cemetery.

Visitation  will be from 3:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center and from 9:30 a.m. until the service on Wednesday at the church.
