MITCHELL – Maxine Agnes “Mickey” Doub, 89, passed away Thursday, January 13, 2022, at Indiana University Health Paoli Hospital.

Born August 1, 1932, in Orange County, she was the daughter of Walter and Jenny (Gentry) Gilstrap.  She married Jackie Lee Doub October 15, 1949, and he preceded her in death October 31, 2013.

Mickey had been employed at Head Start.  She was a member of the Mitchell Presbyterian Church and founding member of the White River Bowhunters where she received several awards. She and Jack were leaders for the Boy and Girl Scouts.  Mickey was an expert seamstress and wallpaper hanger.  She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and grandma “mamaw.”  Mickey will be remembered as a loving, caring, and kind woman.

Her parents; husband; daughter, Candy Kern; grandson, Stacy Kern; great grandson, Jett  Doub; and siblings, Rowena Hopkins, Thelma Trinkle, Walter “Bud” Gilstrap, Bob Gilstrap, and Leo Gilstrap, preceded her in death.

Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 19, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Pastor Dwight Dunbar officiating.  Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the service on Wednesday at the funeral home

    Mickey was a great lady. Her and her family have known me since I was born. Her, Jack, Mom and Dad, ( Bill and Ann McCart) were friends forever. All founding members of the White River Bow Hunters. They did everything together. She was a special lady. And will be missed.
