MITCHELL – Maxine Covert, 93, passed away at 6:34 p.m. Thursday, January 1, 2015, at St. Vincent Dunn Hospital in Bedford.

Born February 22, 1921, in Mitchell, she was the daughter of Artie and Vanice (Arnold) Pruett.  She married Russell Covert December 25, 1950, and he preceded her in death December 19, 1963. 

Maxine had been employed in the cafeteria at Emerson School.  She graduated from Mitchell High School in 1939, and was a member of the Tulip Street Christian Church.

                                    Debbie Watterson, Bedford
                                    Karen Urig, Charlotte, North Carolina
                sister-in-law, Ruth Pruett, Mitchell              

Her parents; husband; brother, Eugene Pruett; and sister, Evelyn Watterson, preceded her in death.

Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 5, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Brother Greg McBride officiating.  Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery.

Friends may call from 3:00-6:00 p.m. Sunday and from 9:00 a.m. until the service on Monday at the funeral home.

    I am sooo sorry to learn of Maxine's passing -- but on to a better place so how can you be sorry for her -- just her family that is left.. She was a very special lady & always enjoyed working with her on projects at Tulip Street & visiting with her anytime..     Steve, my condolences to you and the rest of your family. Maxine was a very nice Christian woman. I remember her well being my Sunday school teacher as well as VBS. She loved children.

    Steve, So sorry to read of Maxine's passing. I remember so many fun times with your mom & my mom along with the cafeteria crew at Emerson!! Oh my! If the walls could talk & remind us of all pranks played on each other!! Maxine was always smiling & loved to have a good time. She was also a TRUE friend!! She will be greatly missed!
