MITCHELL – Melissa Sue Slaughter, 64, passed away Monday, August 9, 2021, at Indiana University Health Hospice House in Bloomington.
Born December 23, 1956, in Crane Village, she was the daughter of Charles Laverne and Marilyn Sue (Jackman) Bentrud. She married John Edward Slaughter June 6, 1983.
Melissa was a homemaker (domestic engineer) and loved being a wife, mother, and fisherman. She was a 1974 graduate of North Knox High School.

Her parents; beloved companions, Milo the Fat Cat, Bella, the Brittany Spaniel, and Cocoa, the English Springer, preceded her in death.
Graveside service will at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 11, at Talbott Cemetery with Brother Wendell Phillips officiating.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. – 1:45 p.m. on Wednesday at Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center.
