BEDFORD – Michael Eugene Mitchell, 71, passed away Saturday, March 15, 2025.
He was born August 17, 1953, in Bedford to Donald Eugene Mitchell and Doris Mae (Sipes) Quillen. Michael married Rita Mae Tuddy on March 3, 2023 and she survives.
Michael retired from General Electric. He enjoyed drag racing and building his drag cars. Michael was a member of Englewood Baptist Church and the Bedford Boat and Sportsmen’s Club. He and Rita loved doing anything together, whether it was working in the yard, going to flea markets, or going to the senior citizen’s dances. Michael was a great guy and was loved by all, and he loved Rita deeply.
Surviving are his wife, Rita Mae Mitchell of Bedford; children, Debbie (Dewayne) Walters of Bedford, Amy Grubbs of Bedford, Shawn Mitchell of Bedford, and Billy Mitchell of Bedford; step-children, J.T. Nunn of Illinois and Rebecca Nunn of Bedford; eight grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and siblings, Connie (Stanley) Cockerham of Medora, Sherri (Ralph) Taylor of Colorado, and Frances Runyan of Bedford.
His parents preceded him in death.
A Celebration of Life will be held 12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. Saturday, April 19, at the Mitchell Community Center.
