MITCHELL Newton Andrew Newt Taflinger, Jr., 80, Mitchell, passed away at 6:35 p.m. Tuesday, May 24, 2011, at Westview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Bedford.
Born February 13, 1931, in Mitchell, he was the son of Newton Andrew and Maude Liene (Smith) Taflinger, Sr. He married Betty Jo Smith September 30, 1981.
He was a self employed carpenter.
Newt was a 20 year U. S. Air Force veteran and a member of American Legion Post No. 250 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107.

Funeral service will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 28, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Jones officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery with military honors accorded by American Legion Post No. 250 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107.
Friends may call from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Friday and from 10:30 a.m. until the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
