MITCHELL – Ocie Alma Owens, 94, passed away Friday, June 2, 2023, at her residence
Born November 12, 1928, in Kentucky, she was the daughter of James John Allan and Gertie Snada (Daniels) Melton. Ocie married John Richard Yowell, who preceded her in death in 1959, she then was married to Harry Eugene Atchison.
Alma worked as a caretaker for Older American Services and loved her job. She enjoyed crocheting and working in her yard.
Surviving are her children, Darlene (Kenny) Irwin of Mitchell, Roland Eugene (Linda) Atchison of Mitchell, and Glenda Lea (Larry) Duncan of Mitchell; eleven grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Her parents; husband, Richard Yowell; children, Gary Dwight Yowell, Robert Eugene Atchison, and David Bryant Atchison; grandson, Brian Scott Johnson; and siblings, Walter Melton, Brance Melton, and Paul Melton, preceded her in death.
Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 6, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Reverend Robert Martindale officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
