ORLEANS Otis M. Thacker, 99, 447 Deer Run Road, Orleans, passed away at 11:12 p.m. Thursday, August 26, 2010, at Bedford Regional Medical Center.
Born February 10, 1911, in Cumberland County, Kentucky, he was the son of Burr Martin and Sarah Margaret (Flowers) Thacker. He married Plumie Mae Young February 24, 1935.
He retired from Architectural Stone Sales, and was a member of the Mitchell Church of the Nazarene and Mitchell Outdoors Sportsman’s Club.
He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II.

His parents; daughter, Letha Johnson; son, Nelson Thacker; sisters, Hippy Jane Thacker, Ludy Alvey Melton, Minnie Russ, Lethal Florence Melton, Pansy Randi Long, and Ocie Eleanor Young; and brothers, Roy Edward Thacker, Marvin Columbus Thacker, Floyd Collins Thacker, and Willie Thacker, preceded him in death.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 30, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Bechtel officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery with military honors accorded by American Legion Post No. 250 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107.
Friends may call from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday and from 9:00 a.m. until the service on Monday at the funeral home.
