MITCHELL – Paul David Basinger, 60, passed away Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Majestic Care of Bedford.

Born January 26, 1965, in Bedford, he was the son of Mary Elizabeth (Basinger) Lucas

Paul worked as a welder and fabricator, and retired from C&M Conveyor Inc. He enjoyed fishing, hanging out with his buddies to reminisce, and getting together with family.

Surviving are his mother, Mary Elizabeth Lucas; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; and his long-time partner’s children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

His life partner of 35 years, Sue Wilkerson, preceded him in death.

Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 3, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Reverend Reggie Clark officiating. Burial will be at Lawrenceport Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service Wednesday at the funeral home.

Spent the night upstairs in the old fireworks building with Dave painting fireworks signs by hand to keep Dave out of trouble, before he got a ride home. Did that many signs needed painting? No, but hearing Dave gripe about it made my night.
