Funeral Planning FAQs

Pre-planning is a gift to yourself and your family—removing uncertainty, protecting finances, and ensuring your final wishes are carried out with care. Begin the pre-arrangement process today!

What is funeral pre-planning? Does it cost anything to do?

Pre-planning means making arrangements for your funeral or cremation service in advance. It allows you to record your wishes, ease the burden on your family, and ensure your preferences are honored. We encourage you to reach out to us with any questions or concerns. No funding plan or cost needs to be involved in your pre-arrangement.

Why should I pre-plan my funeral?

Pre-planning helps reduce emotional and financial stress for your loved ones. It gives them peace of mind knowing everything is taken care of, and it allows you to make decisions calmly and thoughtfully. Having the luxury of time, you can consider your desires as well as others. We encourage you to discuss your thoughts and decisions with your family.

Can I pre-pay for my funeral if I would like to?

Yes. While no funding plan or cost is required, being able to budget now and protect against future cost increases can be beneficially. Funds are typically placed in a trust or insurance policy for security.

What if I move or change my mind?

Most pre-planning arrangements are transferable, meaning they can be honored at another funeral home if you move. Plans can also be updated at any time if your preferences change.

What details can I include in my pre-planned funeral arrangements?

You can decide everything from the type of service (traditional, cremation, celebration of life), to music, readings, flowers, or even personal touches that reflect your life and personality.

How do I start the pre-planning process?

Fill out our Pre-Arrangement Form and we will review and follow up with you to confirm and discuss. If you prefer, you can also contact us (812-849-2600) and we’ll walk you through your options, answer questions, and help you document your wishes in a way that feels comfortable.

Who should I tell about my funeral pre-planning?

It’s a good idea to let close family members and your executor know that you have pre-planned. We also securely keep your arrangements on file for when they are needed.
