MITCHELL Raymond L. “Windy” Chastain, 90, Mitchell, passed away at 5:20 a.m. Saturday, October 31, 2009, at Westside Garden Plaza in Indianapolis.

Born October 26, 1919, in Lawrence County, he was the son of Glen and Geneva (Cox) Chastain. He married Agatha Jolley March 17, 1943, and she preceded him in death May 11, 1996.

He had been employed at Carpenter Body Works, Mitchell Motor Sales, NWSC Crane, Harrison Fitch Chevrolet, Western-Southern Insurance, and retired from Mitchell Supply. He was a 1940 graduate of Mitchell High School, and a member of the First Christian Church.

Raymond was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II and a 60+ year member of American Legion Post No. 250 and a longtime member of the Honor Guard, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107.

His parents; wife; brother, Lovell Chastain; and sister, Gretna (Chastain) Lyons Hill Karnes, preceded him in death.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 4, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery with military honors accorded by Cecil C. Martin Americn Legion Post No. 250 and Marvin R. Davis Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107.

Friends may call from 3:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday and from 10:00 a.m. until the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
