BEDFORD Rick Lee McCormick, 50, passed away at 4:55 p.m. Thursday, April 12, 2012, at his residence.
Born January 3, 1962, in Lawrence County, he was the son of Willard “Mickey” and Margaret A. (Smith) McCormick. He married Tamara Gardner April 1, 2006. He was formerly married to Sheila McCormick of Fayetteville.
He was a U. S. Army veteran, assigned the Bridge Mission in Africa, served in Germany, and was a member of Cecil C. Martin American Legion Post No. 250.
Rick was a past president and assistant regional director of ABATE and a very passionate motorcycle rider. He also followed his father’s footsteps and was owner and driver of stock race cars, and was a truck driver for over 30 years.

His parents preceded him in death.
Funeral service will be at 6:00 p.m. Sunday, April 15, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Frank Ira and Bud Smith officiating. Cremation was chosen and burial will be at a later date in Mitchell Cemetery with military honors accorded by American Legion Post No. 250 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107.
Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. until the service on Sunday at the funeral home.
