MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Robert Eugene Stewart, 101, passed away Friday, April 4, 2026, at his residence in Melbourne, Florida.

Born March 21, 1925, in Bono Township, he was the son of Herbert and Bessie (Roberts) Stewart, and the brother of Norman Stewart. He married Dixie Marie Dunn on July 22, 1961 and she preceded him in death on September 5, 1994.

Bob was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII and the Korean War and eventually achieved the rank of Captain in the Navy Reserves. He retired as a contract manager in bioscience and had received his Bachelor’s Degree from Southeast Missouri State College.

Surviving are his children, Jeffrey (Shelley) Stewart of Apopka, Florida, Barry (Michelle) Stewart of Apopka, Florida, and Rebecca (Jeremy) Stewart Nagel of Melbourne, Florida; grandchildren, Wyatt Nagel, Rachel Nagel, and Jake Stewart; nephew, Dean (Paula) Stewart of Bono Township; and niece, Marilyn (Jay) Wilkins of Franklin, Tennessee.

His parents; wife; stepdaughter, Kimberley LaRue; and brother, Norman Stewart, preceded him in death.

Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, April 13, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Reverend Reggie Clark officiating.  Burial, alongside his wife Dixie, will follow at Talbott Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the service on Monday at the funeral home.
