BEDFORD – Robert Lee Allen, 84, passed away Friday, November 14, 2025, at IU Hospice House.
He was born August 29, 1941, to Charles “Abe” and Charlotte (Abel) Allen in Orange County. He married Norma Jean Slaughter on September 1, 1962 and they have a son, Robert Jr. (Deborah) and daughter, Nancy Jean (Anthony) Maragioglio. He had one granddaughter, Felicia (Stephen) Bruner and three great-grandchildren, Austin, Kairi and Elijah.
In addition to his wife and children, he is survived by his sister, Helen McBride; brother Tom (Jane) Allen; brother-in-law, Charles Skarvan; and several nieces and nephews.
Robert graduated with the class of 1959 from Orleans High School and from DeVry Technical Institute. He retired from Indiana Bell (AT&T) and in retirement, he enjoyed a second career driving “the Big Bus”for Star of Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Doris Skarvan; and brother-in-law Alber McBride.
Robert was awarded Lifetime Membership to the Lawrence County Art Association in recognition of his many years of participation and support. If so inclined, donations to the Association may be made in his honor. (LCAA P.O. Box 1074, Bedford, IN 47421)
