MITCHELL – Ruby Nell Mesarosh, 97, passed away Saturday, February 10, 2024, at White River Lodge.
Born May 23, 1926, in Tazewell, Tennessee, she was the daughter of James and Cora (Miley) Hopkins. She was married to William Mesarosh and he preceded her in death in 1995.
Ruby worked at Trav-Ler Radio Corporation and was a member of Spring Mill’s Green Thumbs. She enjoyed reading, listening to gospel and Elvis music, and watching Westerns. Ruby loved her family.
Survivors include her children, Linda Mounce of Mitchell, Larry Cooney of Mitchell, Brenda (Dave) Capraro of Burns, Tennessee, Peggy Reaid of Jasper, Alabama, Cora “Cookie” (Richard) Miller of Williams, Billy (Debbie) Mesarosh of Mitchell, Karl Mesarosh of Muncie, and Harry (Danielle Flowers) Mesarosh of Mitchell; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
Her parents; husband; children, Dennis Cooney and Wilbur Wayne Cooney; sons-in-law, Bert Mounce and Billy Reaid; and siblings, Roy Hopkins, Frankie Hopkins, Silas Hopkins, Irene Ball, Hattie Stipp, and Ed Hopkins, step sister, Vita Hopkins; and previous husband Wilbur Harvey Cooney, preceded her in death.
Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 13, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Dave Capraro officiating. Burial will follow at Lawrenceport Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service Tuesday at the funeral home.
