MITCHELL Russell Edward “Russ” Edmonson, 60, Mitchell, passed away at 8:36 a.m. on Sunday, March 15, 2009, at home surrounded by his loving family.

Born September 22, 1948, in Orange County, he was the son of Charley and Catherine (Sanders) Edmonson. He married Connie Jean Reynolds June 3, 1985.

He was superintendent of the water and sewage department for the City of Mitchell for 27 years, and was a member of the Mitchell Volunteer Fire Department.

three daughters,
Michelle Jones and husband, Jack, Mitchell
Mary Poole and husband, Mike, Mitchell
Katrina Arthur and husband, Steve, Greene County
three sons,
John Cleek, Mitchell
Kevin Cleek, Orleans
Vick DeCarlo Cleek, Springville
14 grandchildren
Kenny Edmanson and wife, Linda, Huntington
James Edmonson and wife, Sue, Mitchell
Irene Short and friend, Jerry York, Paoli
Brenda Kennedy and husband, Terry, Linton
known as his second mother,
Mary Etta Gaddis, Mitchell,
life long friends,
Jerry Hancock, Roger Duncan, Charles Cooper, Bob and Helen Rager all of Mitchell
several nieces and nephews

His parents; brothers, Arthur Dale Sanders, and Donald Eugene Edmonson; and sister, Mary Lois Kennedy, preceded him in death.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 18, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home with Pastor Dave Mikulsky officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, and from 9:30 a.m. until the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Casketbearers: Jack Jones, Mike Poole, Steve Arthur, Eddie Short, Robbie Edmonson, and Jerrid Edmonson.

    I remember my brother and me always came to hang out in mitchell back in the 60s,we met you a lot of times to hang out with us,you always had to arm wrestle me to see if you had gained enough to beat me,haha,you met my brother many years later and you said you thought you could beat me now.Sorry we never got together for another match,those times were great times we had at mitchell with all you guys,maybe we'll get that match in heaven next time.
