ORLEANS Stella M. Hicks, 83, passed away at 12:30 a.m. Friday, August 31, 2012, at StoneBridge Health Campus in Bedford.

Born May 28, 1929, in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of Delbert and Frances Aaron (Miller) Sutton. She married Lloyd Hicks June 14, 1947, and he preceded her in death October 22, 1988.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Orleans Christian Church. Stella graduated from Mitchell High School in 1947.

Delbert Marvin Hicks, French Lick
Georgia Bohlman, Orleans
James Hicks, Mitchell
Penny Pridemore, Mitchell
5 grandchildren
several great grandchildren

Her parents; husband, Lloyd Hicks; brother, James Marvin Sutton; and grandson, Derrick Denney, preceded her in death.

Funeral service will be at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, September 2, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Rev. Dwight Dunbar officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery.

Friends may call from 12:00 o’clock noon until the service on Sunday at the funeral home.

Jim, I am so sorry to hear about Stella, the last few years have been hard on her and now she is at peace. She had been friends with my mother for as long as I can remember and Mom always talked so highly of her. Even though you and I have talked about this day coming it is still a shock when it is actually gets here. I'm so sorry I am not there right now to help you through this. I'm so glad you got the planters so Darcey can have one to take home. Georg and Penny, Know that you both are on my mind as well and I am sending prayers for your family. If you need to talk you both have my number.
