MITCHELL – Stephen Carl Kerr, 70, passed away Friday, April 22, 2022, at IU Health Bedford Hospital.

Born October 2, 1951, in Bedford, he was the son of Morris Duane and Roberta “Birdie” (Root) Kerr.

Stephen graduated from Tunnelton High School. He worked in horticulture most of his life and loved being outside. Stephen had been the groundskeeper for Otis Park. He was a member of Sons of American Legion Post 250. He enjoyed socializing with his friends. Stephen liked to sing and was known for always singing “Desperado” on karaoke.

Survivors include his children; Cassie (JD) England of Mitchell and Clint (Samantha) Kerr of Mitchell; father, Morris Duane Kerr of Florida; and grandchildren, Austin (Jessica) Kesterson of Indianapolis, Myca (Makayla) of Bedford, Zander (Amber) England of Mitchell, Elodie Canfield of Mitchell, Caitlyn Menna of Mitchell, Dasen Kerr of Mitchell, and Brexten Kerr of Shoals; brother, Ronnie (Barbara) Kerr of Bedford; and sister-in-law, Cindy Kerr of Indianapolis. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

His mother; stepmother, Barbara Kerr; and brother, Richard Kerr, Sr. preceded him in death.

A Celebration of Life will begin at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 1, 2022, at the American Legion Post 250 in Mitchell.

    Kerrdog you was a good friend of mine we had many good times together hanging out and talking about sports and many other things we talked about hanging out together inside and I outside the American Legion..there was a few years we cooked brats together on the back patio of the American Legion during the Persimmon Festival week and in fact I think you and me still hold the record for most brats sold in a single night..o will cherish these memories forever brother and you rest in peace until we meet again..love ya Kerrdog
