BLOOMINGTON– Susan Kay (Hack) Johnson, 59, went to her heavenly home Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at her daughter’s residence after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born August 27, 1962, in Bedford, she was the daughter of Kenneth E. and Carolyn Sue (Dalton) Hack.

Susan was a 1980 Mitchell High School graduate.  She worked at Regal-Beloit for 20 years and at the Monroe County Auditor’s office for 18 years as a Property Director.  Susan loved hiking and she recently accomplished the goal of hiking at every one of the Indiana State Parks with her brother Anthony.  She was a very devoted mother and loved her family fiercely.  She would do anything for her family.  Susan was the definition of a “woman of faith” and was a lifelong member of the Mitchell First Church of God and attended City Church in Bloomington.

Surviving are her daughter, Megan (Keenan) Nowlin of Indianapolis; father, Kenneth E. Hack of Mitchell; siblings, Lisa Irene (Jim) Sanders of Shoals, William Kevin (Julia) Hack of Mitchell, Lori Lynn Hack of Mitchell, and Anthony Joe Hack of Mitchell; special cousin, Kinley Hack of Bedford; nieces and nephews, Natalie Cotton, Brandon Hack, Lucas Sanders, Josh Hack, Jacob Hack, Maisa Cotton, Christian Cotton, Zeke Cotton, Scott Sanders, Kelly Rascoe, Conner Rascoe, and Emma Rascoe; and her beloved companion dog Izzy.

Susan was preceded in death by her mother.

Cremation has been chosen with a Celebration of Life, at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, May 21 at the Bedford First Church of God with Brother Kenny Dalton and Brother Brad Rainey presiding.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at the church.

Susie has always the light of the Lord upon her cherished face as evidenced by her perpetual smile. She has lit a path to the Heavenly Father to guide us. May her family and friends find solace in that and that we will see her soon. Godspeed, my dear Susie.

Susie went far above and beyond with her duties in the auditor’s office for us. She was a devoted public servant and always made us feel special when she worked with our property transfers. There was never a “no way” answer from her. Rather she always said “let me see how I can make this happen”! Please accept our condolences. We will miss seeing her smiling face for sure! Sincerely, Phil and Barb Tapp

So sad along with all of you for the world's loss of sweet Susan. What a bright ray of sunshine she has been. I first met Susan way back in the late 70's when I became friends with Lisa. I dont think i ever saw Susan when she wasnt smiling. She was always so kind, and she radiated God's love to everyone. Sending each of you hugs and praying God will be very real to you and give you His peace until you are with Susan and your mom, again, too. Can't you just imagine the sweet smile on Susan's face as she and Jesus are walking in Heaven!! What a wonderful thought to us! What a wonderful reality to Susan!!!

I have worked with "Qusie Sue" for many years. She was always upbeat, had a positive attitude, never complained when she wasn't feeling good and was such a joy to be around. Our office will never be the same without her and we will never forget her. Such a sweetheart. Megan know that we are here for you if you need anything. So many people loved your Momma. My sincerest condolences. Anita Freeman

News of the death of my dear friend, former co-worker & City Church buddy, Susie Johnson, is numbing.& unbelievably sad. My first time @ City Church, I was a little timid because I didn't know what to expect. I looked to my left & there sat my former co-worker, Susie Johnson, with the big smile she was famous for. From then on we sat together when we were in the same service. She was absolutely one of the sweetest, nicest people I have ever met. She consoled me in 2010 when my son died. With her special friends in her department, she always attended special occasions in various departments at work, passing on good wishes to those who were celebrating happy occasions or enduring sad times. God bless Susie's family & loved ones, I will never forget her as long as I live...and plan to see her up there in Heaven one day where we'll sit side by side praising the Lord & rejoicing with our loved ones.

Prayers for peace and comfort for the family. I didn't know her well but every time I saw her she had a big smile when she greeted me. She visited Benny in the hospital several times the last time he was there. She brought homemade dinners for both of us because he complained about the food!
