MITCHELL Thelma F. Burton, 95, Mitchell, passed away at 1:55 a.m. Wednesday, December 3, 2008, at White River Lodge in Bedford.
Born August 11, 1913, in Mitchell, she was the daughter of John Stephen and Mary (Trowbridge) Isom. She married Newton Paul Burton and he preceded her in death January 18, 1970.
She and her husband owned and operated Burton Orchards. She graduated from Mitchell High School in 1931 and was a member of Liberty Baptist Church.
Her parents; husband; son, John Paul Burton, November 16, 1956; brothers, Stephen Escoe “Pete” Isom, Warren Rex Isom, Gay Isom, Carl Isom, Lowell Isom, Willie Isom, and Opal Isom; and sisters, Hazel Sanders, Pansy Isom, Lucille Isom, Osa Sanders, Avis King, and Roxie Riggs, preceded her in death.
Funeral service will be at 4:00 p.m. Friday, December 5, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home with Rev. Eric Kersey officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Baptist Cemetery.
Friends may call from 3:00 p.m. until the service on Friday at the funeral home.
