JASPER – Virginia K. Hilgeman, 82, Jasper, formerly of Mitchell, passed away at 10:45 p.m. Tuesday, February 7, at St. Charles Health Campus, Jasper.
Born September 21, 1923, in Milltown, she was the daughter of Roscoe V. and Agnes (Hoffman) Byrum. She married Elmer F. Hilgeman, Jr. August 5, 1945, and he preceded her in death December 10, 2004.
She retired from Naval Surface Warfare Center–Crane, graduated from Milltown High Shcool in 1941, and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mitchell.

Her parents and husband preceded her in death.
Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 11, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father John Briedenbach officiating. Burial will be at a later date at Edwardsville Cemetery.
Friends may call from 3:00-8:00 p.m. Friday at Chastain Funeral Home.
A Prayer Service will be at 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
