MITCHELL – Virginia R. Bex, 86, passed away Saturday, February 29, 2020, at Mitchell Manor.

Born October 31, 1933, in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of Ralph F. and Lucy J. (Carter) Ritchison.  She married Ira E. Bex May 28, 1955, and he preceded her in death November 20, 2015.

Virginia was employed by Older American Services for several years.  She graduated from Huron High School and was a member of Fairview Church of Christ where she served as a Sunday school teacher for many years.  Virginia was a devoted wife and mother.

Velma R. (Earl) Padgett of Ft. Myers, Florida
Donna Pauline Moffitt of Bedford
brother,
Robert D. (Wanda) Ritchison of Mitchell
several nieces and nephews


Her parents; husband; and brother-in-law, Wendle Moffitt, preceded her in death.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 6, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Brother Richard Holt officiating.  Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Thursday and from 9:30 a.m. until the service on Friday at the funeral home.

    Reading of the passing of Virginia Ritchison Bex brought back many memories that I shared with her-memories of Huron school, and King’s Ridge, Bowden Hill, and Coulter Hill in those low geared school buses driven by Hugh Mefford and later Alfred Carter. WPA employed the skills of Hobart (my father), and Herbert King to sand and finish the new gymnasium floors. May God be with Virginia’s family in the way only He can know they need Him most.
