MITCHELL William Joseph “Bill” Scott, 81, Mitchell, passed away at 12:14 p.m. Thursday, January 15, 2008, at Bloomington Hospital.

Born August 16, 1927, in Hamburg, New York, he was the son of Clifford Franklin and Ruth I. (Worthington) Scott. He married Oweetah June Jones on June 16, 1952, and she preceded him in death January 27, 1993.

He retired from Lehigh Portland Cement Company. Bill graduated from Mitchell High School in 1946, and was a member of Jacob Finger United Methodist Church. He was a former president of Mitchell Little League, Lions Club, and was a member of the Mitchell School Board when the present high school was constructed.

Bill was a U. S. Navy and U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of Cecil C. Martin American Legion Post No. 250.

grandson,
Cole Clouse, Hanover College

His parents and wife preceded him in death.

Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, January 18, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home with Lee Hupp officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery with military honors accorded by Cecil C. Martin American Legion Post No. 250 and Marvin R. Davis Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107.

Friends may call from 3:00-7:00 p.m. Saturday and from 11:00 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
