Wilma Maxine Chastain, age 95, of Beverly Hills, FL died Monday, August 14th, 2023, in the care of Hospice House of Citrus County, Lecanto, FL. Born May 27, 1928, in Lawrence County, IN to the late Everett and Lula (Austin) Hall of Mitchell, IN. She was married to John P. Chastain in Lawrence County, Indiana on June 5th, 1947, and he preceded her in death in 2010. They moved to this area over 34 years ago and resided in Homosassa, FL until 2007, then moved to Beverly Hills, FL. She was a resident of The Reserve at Citrus in Lecanto, FL for the past year and enjoyed making many new friends with the residents and the staff while living there.

She and her husband were the owners/operators of Chastain Radiator Shop in Mitchell, Indiana and she worked as a Teacher’s Assistant in the Mitchell Community School System. She and her husband were the parents of four children: son, Steve (Tereasa) Chastain, of Pine Ridge, FL; daughters, Amy Chastain of Arlington, TX; Beth A. (Mike) Pattison of New Smyrna Beach, FL; Susan G. (Joe) Kay of Blaine, TN; Four grandchildren: John (Leslie) Gullion; Jordan (Liz) Gullion; Michelle (Thomas Markle) Pattison; Chelsea (Danny) Conard and great granddaughters, Sofia and Ainsley Gullion, great grandsons, Lochlan Conard and J.P. Gullion. Her beloved dog, Prissy Pooh, also survives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, John P. Chastain, four brothers and three sisters.

She was active in the family business, all her family and children’s activities and a source of comfort and help to all who were ever in need. Her home and her table were always open to any who were welcome to share in her love and faith.

She was a member of the Hernando United Methodist Church, a previous member of the First Christian Church of Chassahowitzka and the Mitchell Church of Christ. Graveside services will take place at the Florida National Veterans Cemetery in Bushnell, FL on September 6th, 2023, at 11:00 AM with a memorial service and meal at the Hernando United Methodist Church following the service. The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made in her memory to the Hernando United Methodist Church, 2125 E. Norvell Bryant Highway, Hernando, FL 34442, a local Humane Society or any charity of choice.

    Wilma was a sweet, kind and beautiful lady. I have great memories of her and her children when we were growing up. I loved her stories of the Brave Little Indian and Little Orphan Annie. Aunt Pooh, you will always be in my heart.My condolences to all of you kids. Love you always.
