BLOOMINGTON Arkie Burton Anderson, 76, 3501 Stafford Drive, Bloomington, formerly of Mitchell, passed away at 2:05 p.m. Saturday, November 20, 2010, at his residence.

Born September 21, 1934, in Lawrence County, he was the son of Millard J. “Hub” and Addie Jane (Burton) Anderson. He married Mitze Okazaki July 7, 1972.

Arkie was an engineer and machine designer for Cook, Inc. and retired in 1996. He had also been employed at General Electric, Otis Elevator, and Carpenter Body Works. He graduated from Mitchell High School in 1954 and attended Texas A&M.

He enjoyed model airplane engines and was the tech man at drag races. He had a love for anything with four wheels that would go fast.

His parents, and brother, Vesta G. Anderson, preceded him in death.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 24, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Jones officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery.

Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
