BEDFORD – Dorothy Jane Terrell, 88, passed away Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at her residence.

Born March 20, 1938, in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of Greenie and Ruby (York) Mounce.  She married Robert Eugene Terrell on June 9, 1959 and he survives.  They were married for 67 years.

Dorothy worked at Duckers and RCA, and retired from Dana Corporation.  She loved taking care of kids – and sometimes had a whole house full.  Dorothy enjoyed going to yard sales.  She was a member of the Tabernacle of Praise.

Surviving are her husband, Robert Eugene Terrell of Bedford; sons, Tony (Shelly) Terrell of Huron and Kevin (Sabrina) Terrell of Williams; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and siblings, Jake (Joyce) Mounce of Mitchell, Judy (Sonny) Kern of Mitchell, Betty (Leslie) Hart of Bedford, and Danny (Becky) Mounce of Mitchell.

Her parents; children, Marcella “Marcie” Powell, Donnie Spires, Connie Spires, and Bobby Terrell; and siblings, Charles Mounce, Sue Terry, Bert Mounce, and Sharon Russell, preceded her in death.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 25, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Pastor Gary Thomas and Pastor Tom Jones officiating.  Burial will be in Spice Valley Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Monday, August 24, and from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
