BEDFORD – Dwight Moody Staggs, 75, Bedford, passed away at 1:13 a.m. Friday, July 8, at his residence.

Born December 26, 1929, in Lawrence County, he was the son of Mitchell and Alice (Jones) Staggs. He was married to Marjorie Jane Kirkman 49 years, and she preceded him in death January 9, 1998. He married Rachel L. (Jones) Fleetwood July 25, 1998, and she survives.

He was a deacon and member of Grace Tabernacle Church in Orleans.
He had been employed at RCA for 16 years, was owner of Staggs TV Repair, and a Ham Radio operator. He was a State Champion Checker player, and chess, horseshoe, and bowling enthusiast.

His parents; first wife; brother, Vollie Staggs; and sister, Eva Anderson, preceded him in death.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 11, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home with Reverend Danny Jones officiating. Burial will be in Hilltop Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday and from 10:00 a.m. until the service on Monday at the funeral home.
