Erica Lea Lewis, 44, of Bloomington, passed away on Sunday, March 23, 2025 at her residence.

Born August 9, 1980 in Bedford, Erica was the charismatic daughter of Susan Kay (Briscoe) Hughett and Hilliard Wayne King. She had a fierce love of her family and a talent for making anyone and everyone her friend.

Erica worked incredibly hard to be the first one in her family to earn a master’s degree and her family was infinitely proud of her when she conquered that mountain. She was a therapist by trade. Even when she was young, she was always everyone’s listening ear and advice giver. Nothing ever changed with that. What she was born to do however, was be a mother. When her son Maxwell was born, she fully became everything she was meant to be. She loved that boy with everything that was in her and there are no doubts she will continue to do so from her side of the sky.

She married Anthony Lewis on August 9, 2008 and that decision was one of the best she ever made, and one that she took so much pride in. Her husband was her partner in everything and that was made extremely apparent when she fell ill. He was by her side through everything and provided exponential care and love to her. It did not go unnoticed and the love they had for each other was palpable.

Aside from her husband and son, Erica had a love for Jesus that was unmatched. Her faith never faltered, even through all of the struggles that had come her way over the years. There is peace in knowing that she is with him now, in no more pain, and dancing around in the silliest way possible because that is who she was.

Erica is survived and greatly missed by her husband, Anthony Lewis; son, Maxwell Lewis; sisters, Hilliary (Robert) Lee and Brittany Hughett; best friend/brother, Nick (Merry) Pridemore; nephews, Shawn, Johnny, and Daley; nieces, Kaylea, Maddie, and Everleigh; cousin, Keli, whom she was very fond of; her step dad, Brian Hughett, who remained a consistent and supportive figure in her life; several aunts and uncles; and more friends than anyone can possibly count.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Susan Hughett; father, Hilliard King; paternal grandparents; and maternal grandparents.

Graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 31, in Mitchell Cemetery with Pastor Al Davis officiating.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Sunday, March 30, at Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center.

I met Anthony going through the Chick Fil drive through getting my daily d coke .There was always a special connection to someone that had such a kind demeanor. One would not know what he had been going through with his wife .Anthony always took the time to ask how the day was going and truly care about another person.I did not know or had the privilege of knowing his wife but have been lifting up prayers daily for him ,his family and child 🙏❤I was sorry I could not get there today for visitation as we were out of town .Keeping all of their family in my prayers and thoughts.Jeannie Bower

I’m so sorry for my family in these most trying of times. I was ever so grateful for her kindness in my Father’s passing, and am sad that I will never get to meet this beautiful soul.

This world is a little darker now. I have never known anyone more genuine and joyful than Erica. The first day I met Erica was the day I moved into the college dorms at Vanguard. I was scared. I walked into the elevator and Erica was standing there with the biggest smile and said, “these are going to be the greatest days of your life. You’re going to have so much fun.” My fear went away and I hoped that everyone else at the school would be as cool as her, but her energy was unmatched. She will be severely missed. My condolences to Anthony, Maxwell, and Erica’s family who I know she loved whole heartedly.

Living in Mitchell my whole life I knew who Erica was but I really got to know her through my daughter Courtney’s book club.. Erica was such a fun , full of life personality and was so smart. It was so obvious through talking to her how much she loved Anthony and Max. She simply adored them both and they made her life complete. I am thankful I had the opportunity to meet and get to know this amazing woman. Prayers for Anthony and Max
