MITCHELL – Evan David Earl, 37, passed away Friday, January 9, 2026, at his residence.

Born August 1, 1988, in Bedford, he was the son of David Earl and Kelly (Sorrells) Smith. 

Evan was a 2007 graduate of Mitchell High School.  He loved music, playing guitar, and writing songs.  He loved his family, but most of all, he loved his son Ryder and playing video games with him.

Surviving are his son, Ryder Earl; mother, Kelly Sorrells Smith of Mitchell; sisters, Jamie (Tyler) Drumm of Dubois and Alix (Louis) Kirts of Norman; nephew, Ike Johnson; and nieces, Jordyn Kirts and Luna Kirts.

His father; both sets of grandparents; and nephew, Kade Johnson, preceded him in death.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Friday, January 16, at Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center.
