ORLEANS – George Robert “Bob” Powell, 87, passed away at 6:20 p.m. Tuesday, August 13, 2013, at Indiana University Health Bloomington Hospital.
Born January 20, 1926 in Orange County, he was the son of Walter C. and Sarah Lois (Pruett) Powell. He married Imogene Ruth Barlow April 17, 1948.
He retired from Mitchell Crushed Stone and was a member of Liberty Baptist Church.
Bob was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II, served with the 138th Division in the Philippines on the Island of Luzon. He was the recipient of a Bronze Star.

His parents preceded him in death.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 17, at Liberty Baptist Church with Rev. Wade Judy officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Baptist Cemetery with military honors accorded by American Legion Post No. 250 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107.
Friends may call from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday at Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center and from 10:00 a.m. until the service on Saturday at the church.
