MITCHELL Jacqualine “Jackie” Shelton, 58, departed this physical life on March 12, 2009.

She was born on October 18, 1950 to Carl E. and Lavon (Cooper) Reynolds.

A lifelong resident of Mitchell, she graduated from Mitchell High School in 1968. She worked at the Mitchell Tribune for a number of years and in 1980, founded The Bookery. It began as a new and used bookstore, and in 1990, a video rental store was added. When the bookstore closed, a laundromat was added in 2004. The video store closed in 2007.

She married Jerry Lee Shelton on September 13, 1968, and he survives.

her mom, a lifelong mentor, helper, and friend of Mitchell
a much loved daughter, Jeri Leigh Jacobs and husband, Lance, Orleans
three beloved grandchildren, Caitie Shelton, Garrett Jacobs, and Emmy Jacobs, Orleans
brother and also a lifelong helper and friend, Greg Reynolds, Mitchell
two loving sisters,
Leetta Cooper and husband, Mark, Birdseye
Carla Gurnett and husband, Dan, Harvard, Illinois
numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, and cousins, including a special cousin, Michelle Porter, Mitchell
four brothers-in-law,
Jim Shelton, Mitchell
Steve Shelton, Shoals
Chet Shelton, Bedford
Arnold “Doc” Shelton, Bedford
special friends,
Susan Hanns, Bedford
Ursula Newsome, Bedford

and her beloved dogs and cats

She was preceded in death by her dad, Carl, in 1986, and brother, Kevin, in 2000.

Jackie requests that no flowers be sent. Memorial contributions may be sent to White River Humane Society, PO Box 792, Bedford, IN 47421 or to LMSarcoma Direct Research, PO Box 52697, Tulsa, OK 74152, or to the charity of your choice.

Friends may call from 3:00-5:00 p.m. Sunday, March 15, at Chastain Funeral Home. A memorial service will be at 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Reverend Steve Jones officiating.

At the request of the deceased, the body will be cremated and the family tombstone will be located in Talbott Cemetery, Bono Township.
