SPRINGVILLE – Joyce Lynn “Joy” Slaughter, 64, passed away at 1:50 p.m. Sunday, May 18, 2014, at Indiana University Health Hospice House in Bloomington.

Born September 1, 1949, in Anderson, Indiana, she was the daughter of Edward Vernon and Violet Lorraine (Wynn) Slaughter. 

She was a homemaker and a member of Springville Trinity Pentecostal Mission Church.  Joyce graduated from Mitchell High School in 1968.

Surviving:        sons, Lt. Col. Timothy James Atkins, Ft.Leonard Wood, Missouri
                               Teddy Edward Atkins, Bedford
                  siblings, John Edward Slaughter, Mitchell
                               Jane Emily Brewer, Springville
      granddaughters, Alexis Lynn Atkins
                               Samantha Joy Atkins 

 Her parents and brother, Jeffrey Lee Slaughter, preceded her in death.

Graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 24, at Talbott Cemetery with Rev. Wendell Phillips officiating.

    Joy was a very special person. I'm glad I got the chance to be close to her. We had a lot of good times working together at Walmart. All the family is in my prayers. My heart goes out to all of you.
