MITCHELL – Kim P. Knowles, 62, passed away at 1:18 p.m. Thursday, December 19, 2013, at his residence.

Born October 6, 1951, in Lawrence County, he was the son of William F. and Barbara Jean (Lanier) Knowles.

He graduated from Mitchell High School in 1970 and Purdue University in 1974. Kim was a mechanical engineer and retired from NSWC Crane. He was a charter member of Tulip Street Christian Church.

His mother preceded him in death.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 23, at Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Dr. Robert Courson officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery.

Friends may call from noon until the service on Monday at the funeral home.

    Kim & I were classmates from Miss Bixler's first grade class through twelfth grade, graduating in 1969 at MHS. He was always smart and willing to help others. He was a good friend. You are all in my prayers, RIP, Kim.
