MITCHELL – Lucy Edith Lynch, 87, Mitchell, passed away at 9:30 p.m. Thursday, May 11, 2006, at Mitchell Manor Living and Rehabilitation Center.

Born October 12, 1918, in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of Leslie and Lucinda (Phillips) Cooper. She married John R. Lynch November 29, 1940.

She had served as librarian at Burris School and Mitchell Junior High School where she was also a teachers’ aide. She was a 1938 graduate of Mitchell High School and a member of the First Christian Church and the Dorcas Circle of the church. Her other memberships included Lawrence County Homemakers and Fleur de Lis.

Her parents; sisters: Kathryn Hedrick and Laura Etta Cooper; and brothers: Winfred Cooper, and in infancy, Howard Leslie Cooper and Ira Leonard Cooper, preceded her in death.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 14, in the First Christian Church with Brother Josh Brumfield officiating. Burial will be in Sheeks Cemetery.

Friends may call from 3:00-8:00 p.m. Saturday at Chastain Funeral Home and from 1:00 p.m. until the service on Sunday at the church.
